Customised Employment In Action
This Participant joined BlueSky Mind Studio with a goal of building his skills and working toward employment.
With the support of NDIS Employment Coach Cristina, he explored his strengths, skills and interests through the Customised Employment model. Together, they identified opportunities that aligned with what he enjoys and does best.
To help him take the next step, they reached out to Vinnies about a volunteer opportunity. Our Participant was offered a tailored role that reflects his strengths and interests. In his position, he greets customers, tags and de-tags clothing, assists with merchandising, and supports the overall presentation of the store.
Cristina supports our Participant at work by clearly explaining tasks, showing him how to complete them, and helping him understand his responsibilities so he can carry them out with confidence. As his skills and confidence grow, support is gradually reduced to foster greater independence.
She has also supported our Participant to strengthen his workplace communication and build his confidence to engage with staff and customers.
He is thriving in the volunteer role and building valuable workplace experience, while continuing to explore long term employment pathways with BlueSky Mind Studio.
