Introducing The Pivot Training Media Club!

We’re thrilled to share the very first project from our new Media Club, launched last month by Trainer and Assessor Fuadi at Pivot Training Elizabeth. The club gives our Foundation Skills learners the chance to build their digital skills in a fun and creative way.

The clubs first project is a short video, titled ‘Pivot Affairs’, that explores the influence of social media on everyday life, highlighting both benefits and challenges such as online pressure, misinformation, and digital wellbeing.

The video features our Participants, staff and other interviewees discussing their experience with social media and what we can do to have a more positive experience whilst using the technology.

Through the creation of the short video, our students learned how to:
• Plan and manage a project from start to finish
• Set up and conduct interviews
• Run a stall in Elizabeth City Centre to engage the public
• Record and edit videos
• Capture and present different perspectives through media
• Visit Northern Sound System to see how the professionals work as part of an excursion
• Use AI and much more…

The Media Club’s first project connected directly to lessons on workplace communication, digital technology in creative industries, and employability skills. Along the way, learners reinforced the importance of WHS, teamwork, and technology use in real work environments.

The project didn’t stop once filming wrapped, with activities continuing in the classroom through reflection writing, digital presentations, and discussions about industry roles.

Throughout the project, the group faced some unexpected challenges, from limited access to tools like lights, software, and storage devices, to restrictions around filming in shopping centres and the need to travel to interview participants.

Despite these hurdles, the team turned challenges into learning opportunities and successfully completed a creative and timely project. Not only did they explore the impact of social media today, but they also strengthened their digital skills along the way.

We can’t wait to see what the Pivot Training Media Club creates next!
